Irony of ironies

The 4th of July .the date rings a bell. Of  course. I heard Ryan seacreast-radio personality in America- talk about the independence day of the United States
of America  weeks ahead of today. In fact the song   'carry on' by the boy band FUN. based in New York has a flying mention of the day, Katy Perry does too did
the same in her hit single 'fire work'

In fact there  are songs totally dedicated to America and its independence day. These songs are sung along with, patriotically and sentimentally
by its people on the 4th of July. Some of these songs pay a tribute to the soldiers who died, some applaud and exalt America and the colors in its flag.
others simply speak of how proud they are to be Americans.

singers  give out strong messages and promises singing about their beloved country.
Willie nelson sang for America
"Livin' in promised land,
Our dreams are made of steel
the pride of every man-
to know how freedom feels
there a winding road,
across the shifting sand,
and room for everyone
living on this promised land"

lee greenwood sang proudly on his freedom
"and I’m proud to be an American
where at least I know I’m free
And I won't forget  who died
Who gave the right to me"

Bon Jovi  ,  Miley Cyrus, Willie nelson all sing of their country . just left me wondering .India never sings for its country.
We don’t mention or even wish each other a 'happy independence day' on the 15th of august.  it’s just another 'study leave' for aspiring students
,a 'sleep day' for the working class or a 'party day' for party animals.

Its heart wrenching to see that our patriotic fervor is just confined to cricket. the never  radio stations  never play out any song or organize a
contest related to the independence. so why cannot we organize rallies , parades? Or maybe just meet up and sing in the
reminiscence of our patriots ? or simply plan to zone out ourselves individually and go to a memorial event or a symmetry to pay
tribute to those who served our nation and bled out their lives for us ?

if we sit still for a 3 hour movie and get irritated when somebody sneezes, cannot we give 1 minute of ur undivided attention to the national anthem.?

so the irony is here I am, writing about India, all worked up, on America’s independence day !!Which probably makes me the worst...?
but here's to India-

on your soil I live and die
you nurtured my soil and heart
gave my your values
learned me to respect
today I pledge
you will never be looked down upon
your nose will never be rubbed in the dirt
your flag will never fly to the ground
I pledge to be loyal to you
and stand by you
together we will prosper
and reach the sky.
India, we will be invincible
